Grind and shine

Grind that coarse, hard surface ’til you see it shine. We’re not talking about what you do on the dance floor: we’re talking about polishing concrete floors. It’s an increasingly popular trend for retail stores, schools, offices, industrial spaces and even homes. They just look nice: smooth, reflective surfaces that capture the light and brighten your space. They’re also flexible: you can add dyes, choose the level of sheen you want and even design patterns on the floor.

Benefits of polished concrete floors

Polished concrete floors are very low maintenance when it comes to cleaning, especially compared to similar alternatives like hardwood, tile, vinyl or natural stone. They’re extremely durable, resistant to foot traffic and difficult to scratch or chip which makes them last a long time.
Polished concrete floors are also cost effective and a great way to save money on your project.

How we polish your concrete

Polishing concrete floors is a lot like sanding wood: you start by grinding the concrete using a coarse diamond segment bonded in a metallic matrix. This gets rid of minor pits, blemishes, stains or light coatings from the floor, giving it a smooth feel. The next step involves fine grinding of the concrete surface using diamond abrasive embedded in a plastic or resin matrix. Finally, we spread a polishing compound on the surface to give the floor more sheen, then apply a final polish using a high-speed burnisher.
